About the Visionary
Tempestt S. Latham's journey to founding EmpowerEdD Health and Education Collective is deeply rooted in her connection to New Haven, Connecticut. Born and raised in the community she now serves, Tempestt's story is one of passionate dedication to improving health outcomes through education and empowerment.
Her 15-year journey in healthcare began as a dental professional, where her work with inner-city communities opened her eyes to the profound impact of accessible health education. Working chair-side with patients from diverse backgrounds, Tempestt witnessed firsthand how knowledge and understanding could transform not just oral health outcomes, but entire lives. This revelation sparked a deeper calling to expand her impact beyond clinical care.
Proudly educated through Connecticut's educational system, Tempestt's commitment to learning and growth mirrors her belief in the transformative power of education. Her academic journey, from her initial dental training through her Master of Public Health, has been driven by a single purpose: to better serve and empower her community. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) with a focus on Public Health Education, Curriculum, and Instruction, reflecting her dedication to developing innovative educational approaches that resonate with diverse communities.
